A shower came at the moment beauties arrived at the SOS Nha trang village for disadvantaged children but it didn’t dampen the charity visit.
The road running across the village was very crowded at 4pm, July 3 because local residents heard of the visit and they gathered to see the beautiful girls.
Inside the village was an animated atmosphere. Children wore their nicest clothes, held flags and flowers waiting for the beauties. They were very nervous because they would present flowers to the beauty queens.
At 5.30pm, two buses stopped in front of the village. Paula Mary Shugart, Chairman of Miss Universe pageant, got out of the bus first, followed by the most beautiful girls in the world. Girls hugged children and said “thank you”, and “hello” to them in Vietnamese
The organising board of the Miss Universe 2008 pageant presented the SOS Nha trang village VND100 million. However, for children, money couldn’t compare to the real beautiful girls. Children asked for signatures and took photos with Miss Universe contestants.
A shower suddenly came, forcing girls and children to seek a shelter since the meeting was outdoors. Ignoring the shower, children surrounded the girls to talk and take photos.
The visit ended while the shower continued. While organisers were confused about how to get contestants to their buses, children took their umbrellas and saw the contestants off.
